Today, any online retailer (big or small) is aware of the fact that before any spending occurs, the addicts of online buying use Internet to engage with the brands they love most. Most of us are found traipsing through our inboxes, especially on paydays for the latest news from our favourite brands, also religiously follow their Facebook and Twitter accounts for latest updates.

Yes, retail brands of today have to work a little harder than ever to engage with us on a deeper note before we go and checkout from their  website. God I’m on fire…

But the question is what to post to engage us? Well, as per the strategy, more and more small brands are looking forward to adopt content marketing. Branded, relevant, sharable content that boost ups engagement with the brand and its services, online.

If you are confused as to what social ‘content’ would engage fans, here are 5 tips from a crazy, online-savvy shopper that may actually help to get us hooked.

1.       Show your Inside

Your brand is facing stiff competition with all our other stunning-looking favorites; in our inbox, newsfeed and whenever we refresh twitter. If your brand was a person – we look forward a common ground amongst us. Stand out from the crowd, inject a little personality! Personality-fuelled updates are more likely to draw attention, and have us replying back.

2.       Not Always ME, ME, ME

So Unattractive! Too much self-promotion from brands on social platforms is a complete bore for us. A good and successful social media strategy isn’t about bragging about your product. We wouldn’t have followed you otherwise. We look forward to interesting, relevant updates that can rouse our interests and strengthen the bond we already have with you.

3.       IT Must be a Two-way Communication

Just like any real world friendship, this connection too requires energy and enthusiasm for both ends. Provide us Industry Insights, but do not share updates that we can’t interact with. We would love to interact if you ask us interesting questions in your updates. This encourages us to participate, comment and hopefully share your updates as well.

4.       Be the First to Post

We love behind-the-scenes gossip! Would love to hear about your upcoming campaign or know about your  suggested seasonal look. Post teasers and tasters to make us curious about what’s ‘coming next’. This way, we are more inclined to check out for that amazing offer or gadget coming next Spring!

5.       We Want More!

If we like your product or service…show us more of it! If we’re getting engaged, you have already got us hooked…we want more now!

The more relevant and timely content you provide us, the more likely we will be able to interact with your brand. And yes, in Facebook Language, the more we interact with your brand, higher would be the Edge ranking you will get on our news feeds, resulting again in MORE interactions and more engagement.
